STUART IRVINE HARRIS – AUTHOR BIO OVERVIEW

1933. Born London UK. 1941 “Blitz” drove us to Worcester. School Worcester royal grammar school to 1949.

1949-1954. Trained, then qualified as Chartered Accountant (highest UK accounting authority .

1958. Married – then 3 children.

1955-1970. Rose from internal auditor via operations, marketing and I.T. managerial roles to CEO of largest UK catalog company, British Mail Order Corp. BMOC Ltd.

1963-1973: Created and led Variety Clubs International, 1st UK Regional committee, working to help ’Underprivileged Children’, becoming President again in 10th year.

Built potent business &community leaders’ committee.

Repeated involvement with Prince Philip, in his capacity as leader of Duke of Edinburgh’s Youth Award Program.

1974. Moved family to USA.

1974-1995. Worked as Consultant (and usually Board Member) to companies based in NY, NJ, CT, VA, UK, FL etc.

1984 moved to Va to be President of large mail order and fulfilmentco.

1995. Continued business consulting but increasingly focus on volunteer leadership to resolve community problems. Refocused on unprepared parents and joined board of 501c3 organization, “Prepare Tomorrow’s Parents.” After 9/11, refocused on Virginia mandated but unfunded requirement to “teach character education” in all schools. Created novel region-wide volunteer community character-building organization to aid schools. Established Board and 501c3 organization, acting as volunteer CEO.

2013. Blindness (Macular Degeneration) at age 80. Life came to screeching halt! At last, time to stop and think. Realized non-profit efforts were mostly just applying bandaids. Resolved to seek strategies to remove underlying causes of humanity’s core problems. Result: www.savinghumanity.net.
